The Mozilla Festival is an annual event that brings together people who love the internet and see it as essential to a healthy society. Teachers, technologists, artists, hackers, and advocates spend three days in hands-on, co-facilitated sessions to celebrate and extend the web we love, and address the threats to its future.
I've attended MozFest four times in a variety of roles, as attendee, facilitator, and planner. It's a thrill. In 2016, I lead the design and production for the festival theme, collateral, app, and space. I managed a hybrid team of in-house and contracted designers and engineers. The festival was a huge success, recapturing some energy from the founding years, while adding polish and impact. In 2017, Mozilla decided to double-down and extend the festival, recognizing it's critical role in achieving the organization's mission.
